If there’s a single hype in the beauty world that I am fully engaged with and committed to, it has to be glow-getting. It’s funny because I spent my teen years caking on pressed powder in a futile attempt to achieve a flawlessly matte finish, but somewhere along the way I was converted, and highlighters have since wiggled their way right up there next to mascara on my won’t-leave-the-house-without-it list.
Despite this, I do always approach a new highlighter exercising a cautious optimism – ever hopeful that I’ll unearth a new favourite, but well aware that there is a fine line between success and failure when it comes to glow-getting. Powder formulas typically go cakey and emphasise imperfections while liquid textures lack mainstay and tend to fade without reapplication.
Over the past few weeks the Edited team have been trialling and testing their way through Natasha Denona’s collection – and while there were many items to covet come launch day – the standout product for all of us was the All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer. It’s great news that gets even greater when I tell you that this highlighter is far better than most of what’s already out there; the golden cream blends right into my skin (I’ve been using the lightest shade), giving it a radiant glow – dewy in a way that very few powder highlighters are. The I-don’t-know-how-she-does-it glow illuminates my complexion without imparting a glaring sheen or sparkle effect.
In fact, unlike other illuminating products, Denona’s doesn’t look like a product sitting on the skin – it looks like you’ve had a full night’s sleep, drank eight litres of water, and just got back from a spa break in the Maldives.
What’s more is you can go full-body with this palette (i.e. dusting it on collarbones, shoulders, and down the front of your shins) without having to worry about going full-on 1990s pageant queen – Natasha has your back.
Attention to anyone getting ready for wedding and/or prom season: the pressed powder has a delicate shimmer that catches the light at just the right moment to catch your date’s eye. And even if you don’t have anything special planned for summer, a little glow never hurt anyone, right? Just grab a brush and sweep it on – it’ll make you feel good.
