The Biggest Beauty Trends For 2021

2020 was a weird year and we’re pretty sure 2021 will be weird too! Who’d have thought maskne would have been our new skin concern and that we’d barely have made it through a tube of foundation since March?

It’s difficult to predict beauty trends in such an unpredictable time, but we’ve given it a go. Check out the trends we think you’ll be obsessed with in 2021.

PRE AND PROBIOTIC SKINCARE

We’ve been all about this for a while, but now more than ever it’s important to have a strong skin barrier to stop bad bacteria from getting in and causing breakouts. Pre and probiotics help to repair and protect the natural layer of good bacteria on your skin, otherwise known as your microbiome. Trust us, you’ll be experts on this by next year!

SKIN LUMINISERS

Adding some liquid highlighter to your foundation, replacing it with a skin tint instead or working on your natural glow, looking luminous with a healthy radiance will be the goal in 2021.

SCALP CARE

Your skin doesn’t stop at your hairline, right? Just like your face and body, your scalp has specific needs too. We’ll be shopping scalp products to keep the skin on our head healthy, which can have a big impact on hair quality too.

NAIL ART

As well as supporting salons, we’re taking the nail art skills we were forced to learn during lockdown through to 2021. If you’re not blessed with a steady hand, stick-ons work just as well too.

SUCKING MOTION VIBRATORS

The up-and-coming product in the sexual wellness category: sucking motion vibrators. Trust us, you need one! The nossle shape at the end of the vibrator sends pulses to the clitoral glands to simulate oral sex.

2000'S ACCESSORIES

The return of the noughties is bringing with it clip-on ponytails, hair gems, rhinestones, butterfly clips and lip gloss. We’re not ruling out skinny brows too – sorry!

MATCHING YOUR MAKEUP TO YOUR MASK

While we’re hoping that life gets back to normal, it looks like face masks aren’t going anywhere soon. While we still have to wear them, let them be your inspo for your eye look.

ANCIENT RITUALS

Going back just a little further than childhood nostalgia, we’re taking some cues from ancient beauty routines. Using  a jade roller or gua sha in your skincare routine and follow in the footsteps traditional Chinese medicine. The products are perfect for a facial massage or to press in serums.

HALAL CERTIFIED PRODUCTS

Not so much a trend, but a movement towards inclusivity. Just like when products started to become more widely labelled as vegan and cruelty-free, halal certifications will be important in 2021 and beyond.

LEVELLED-UP HAIRCARE

Remember how you got totally on top of your skincare routine in 2020? Well your hair’s up next in 2021. We’ll all be getting to know our hair type and the specific haircare routine we should be following (PSA it’s more than just shampoo and conditioner).
