Average time it takes you to do your makeup in the morning? Around 30-40 minutes
Top beauty tip: Use Mario Badescu Aloe Spray throughout your makeup routine for gorgeous glowy skin!
What’s a day in the life like for you? Well I work from home making YouTube tutorials, so I generally will wake up and eat breakfast, then go to the gym to get out of the house for an hour. When I come home I shower, then sit down to film some videos. Or on the days I am not filming I’m usually editing my videos in my home office, answering emails or just playing around with some makeup looks/ideas for content.
How did you get into this line of work? I was a Retail Makeup Artist for 4 years and after a while I grew really tired of working with one brand and wanting to try something new. I began making Youtube videos after much encouragement from my husband, and I was doing so well and enjoying making videos so much it turned into my job after a while, and I haven’t looked back!
What is your earliest beauty memory? When I was younger, the music I listened to really heavily influenced my style and my makeup, I remember suddenly going from the girl who didn’t wear much makeup at all to the girl who would head to school with a full black smokey eye. It definitely was not a cute black smokey eye either – I used to apply the black eyeshadow with my finger in the girls toilets at school and top it off with loads of black kohl liner in my waterline. It always ran down my face by the end of the day. But even though I probably looked awful, and the girlie girls used to tease me, I thought I was really cool and felt my own sense of style with my makeup even then.
Biggest beauty mistake? This is a hard question, as I don’t personally think there are many beauty mistakes really, I guess what others deem “mistakes” probably makes other men and women feel comfortable in their own skin, and that’s kind of the point of makeup really isn’t it? To feel confident and good about ourselves, even if it doesn’t meet someone else’s expectations.
What three words would you use to describe your makeup look? Bold, smoky, sassy
What inspires you? Where do you find inspiration? So much! I find inspiration everywhere really. From movies to music to other makeup artists. Instagram is a wonderful place for inspiration, not just from other makeup artists but from tattoo artists, illustrators and graphic designers. If I like the style or colours used in something, I’ll find a way to turn it into my own look.
What are you listening to right now? Post Malone – I Fall Apart
What is your idea of a perfect evening? My favourite city I’ve ever been to is New York! Maybe a warm summer evening in NYC drinking cocktails and eating good food on a rooftop!
