Huns That Hustle: Georgie Cleeve of Oskia

In honour of International Women’s Day, we chatted with ten kick-ass, powerful women who have broken through the glass ceiling and founded their own beauty brands.

Meet Georgie Cleeve, skincare expert and enthusiast, and founder of luxury skincare range, OSKIA.

Founded: 2009

Location: London and Monmouth, UK

Motto: “Onwards and upwards.”

On what makes Oskia unique…

“Oskia was the first skincare range to use nutrients to improve skin cell health, so it was right at the forefront of the high-tech natural approach.”

On the skills she’s transferred to running a business from her journalism background…

“Being a journalist gave me a desire to question everything – I love to solve a problem, which is the starting point for many of our formulas.”

On what she’s learned about being a female entrepreneur…

“Women are capable of juggling a lot, and they’re more optimistic – both of which are vital in business.”

On what keeps her going in the face of challenges…

“Being optimistic, and remembering that while business is challenging, it should also be fun. I feel strongly that if you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, you should stop it and do something else.”

On the importance of having a sounding board…

“Everyone needs a friend or mentor to knock ideas around with, even if you do decide to start up on your own…in my case it was my husband, George.”
