What’s your most requested client look?

My all-time favourite look that I always get asked for is a spotlight. This is a rounded eye look that suits just about everyone. I have been asked for this look so many times during lessons and a lot of my clients ask for this look for nights out. I think this look is so popular because you can tailor it for each client. It can be strong, sharp, bright and colourful or it can have more of a subtle, blown-out, softer look for a less dramatic feel. What I love most about this look is that it suits clients of all ages, which makes it so diverse.

What are your go-to products for creating this look?

To create the spotlight effect in the middle of the eye, you’ll need a glitter product similar to Stila’s Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow or the Revolution Glitter Bomb. For the shadow, I love the shade Basic from the bPerfect Stacey Marie Carnival Palette – it’s the perfect warm base shade for eyes. The warm nude shade of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Ashton is the perfect hue for so many skin tones and it ties the whole look together. I then finish by using the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea – a spritz of this sets the skin perfectly. It can also be used before makeup to prep the skin.

What are your tips for creating this look?

An easy way to create this look is to apply your desired colour all over the lid in a circular shape, blending the edges softly away toward the brow. Apply the shadow evenly over the top of the lid and the bottom. You don’t have to complicate this look with lots of colours, you can just use one colour for a simpler look. You can also choose a darker colour a little closer to the lid to make it stronger or just leave it with the one colour. The next bit is to create the spotlight part of the makeup. My best product to use for the spotlight is a glitter liner, which you just place in the middle. I recommend using a fluffy brush to dab this product on to the middle of the eye. Bring the glitter slightly above the eye lid so that when you open you can still see the glitter – this lifts the eyes and makes the look pop!

What’s your most requested client look?

Honestly, this blue and purple spotlight cut crease is a favourite – it’s because my clients are brave and love the drama. I think it’s because the colours go really well together and it’s quite contained, but still eye-catching and dramatic. When the eyes are open it just looks like a smoky eye, then when the eyes are closed BAM… a neat work of glittery art.

What are your go-to products for creating this look?

A good base concealer works well to make sure the shadows are stuck down before blending. It means they’ll last better too. The Nabla Close Up Concealer works well for this. It’s important to use shadows that you like the texture of and can work well with when blending. BEAUTY BAY’s EYN Bright 42 Colour Palette has the perfect bright shades, they’re super pigmented and they blend flawlessly. Use the BEAUTY BAY Prism 12 Piece Travel Brush Set to complete the look.

What are your tips for creating this look?

Pack the darkest colour onto the lid first and then blend the edge with a clean brush. Next, introduce the lighter colour around the edge of the darker shade. Use a flat brush to cut the crease and set the concealer with shadow. Add a glitter liner to define the crease. Finish with liner & lashes and strike a pose!

What’s your most requested client look?

My most requested look is always a warm-toned brown smoky eye with a hint of shimmer, paired with a full coverage, glowy base – something that’s perfect for every event and matches any outfit choice. The reason that this look is so popular is due to how versatile it is, whether it’s your wedding day or you’re attending a family party, it perfectly fits the event. It gives off the golden radiant vibes and you definitely get a red-carpet ready feeling with this look – who doesn’t want that, right?

What are your go-to products for creating this look?

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette is perfect for this kind of look, as it’s filled with super rich, neutral shades in both matte and shimmer finishes and can create so many different classic looks. The Jouer Cosmetics Essential High Coverage Concealer creates the ideal base for this shadow to have ultimate colour payoff. Add a flush to cheeks with the Milani Baked Blushes – there’s a wide variety of shades to choose from that will suit any skin tone. To finish the look, the Dose of Colours Liquid Lipstick in Supernatural is the ultimate nude lip shade.

What are your tips for creating this look?

It’s all about the eye blend! I always start with the colour I want to stand out most on a wet base. Next, blend out with a lighter shade before going back in and building up the depth. This look is meant to be elegant and striking, so when you’re creating your base make sure the skin is heavily moisturised to avoid any dryness and to stop the skin looking cakey. Most importantly – have fun with it! There are no right or wrong ways to apply makeup – practice makes perfect.
