Self-Care Sunday: 7 Ways To Beat The Monday Blues

Tomorrow is officially the most depressing day of the year, with our festive cheer out with the Christmas tree and payday still SO FAR AWAY it’s easy to see why more people than usual feel a little bit blue. In order to combat some of those feelings, I’m planning on spending this weekend surrounded by family, friends and taking some much needed me time before my Monday morning 6am alarm sounds.

1. Soak

One of my favourite ways to de-stress and prepare for a long day is to take a nice, warm bath. For a real luxurious treat I use This Works Deep Sleep Bath Soak, therapeutic bath salts that infuse the air and water with Lavender and Camomile to relieve tension and help me wind down…bliss.

2. Manicure

Nothing makes you look like you’ve got your life together more than a perfectly polished manicure. Always sitting snugly in my bedside drawer, OPI Glitzerland is a shimmering champagne nude that takes me from 0-100 real quick. Beautifully enhancing my natural nails, I wear between 2-3 coats to create an elegant and subtle finish that always adds a touch of excitement to my deskside day.

3. Mask

Perfect for post-Christmas skin, Lovely Day Hyaluron & Bloom Pink Clay Mask is an intensive face mask that evens tone, purifies skin and adds beautiful radiance. Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, leaving on my face for around 25 minutes-ish softens dry, weathered patches and adds a glow to my Cullen-like complexion – A surefire way to look less meh.

4. Moisturise

Prepping for my perfect polish, Starskin Hollywood Hand Mask Gloves are my quick, cheat solution for softer hands. Offering instant results after just 15 minutes, I normally pop these on during difficult weeks as the backs of my hands tend to get irritated and itchy when I’m feeling down, stressed or anxious. Laced with a blend of 16 botanical extracts these double layered gloves act like mini saunas to simultaneously condition the hands and cuticles.

5. Exfoliate

Relaxing from head to toe, Starskin Magic Hour Foot Mask Socks are one of my greatest pleasures in life. Like most, feet freak me out, so I like to do all I can to make mine look at their very best! Perfect for a day when you aren’t doing much, it’s as simple as sitting in a pair of serum soaked socks for 1-2 episodes of your new favourite Netflix series (60-90 mins). Whilst you enjoy doing a whole load of nothing, the Lactic Acid infused socks gently exfoliate and condition to reveal a brand spanking new pair of never-been-walked-on feet.

6. Condition

For me, it’s not Sunday unless I’ve spent 95% of the day with a hair mask on and my hair piled up like a small animal nesting on my head. In rotation with about 345663 others, Olaplex Hair Perfector No 3 is the one that skips the queue most often due to its incredible ability to strengthen and recondition. Perfect for my highlighted hair, this at-home treatment works best when left in for longer and keeps my colour looking salon-fresh. Let’s make tomorrow Caramel Monday instead yeah?

7. Sleep

I’m not going to lie, I use this every night so it’s not ‘special’ but it is in the sense that it’s become part of my daily self-care. Clinically proven to help you sleep faster and better, This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray is formulated with a blend of Lavender, Camomile and Vetivert to minimise anxieties and allow for the perfect night’s sleep – vital for a long, NON-miserable Monday.
