I’m like a great big dog. Every spring when they shed their fur for summer, I’m purging myself of my winter face. Ditching the deep lipsticks and full-coverage foundation, I pick a completely different makeup bag from my collection and fill it with a whole host of new essentials. We might not have the weather of LA here in Manchester but glossing my face sure helps me pretend I’m floating down Venice Beach when I’m actually getting shoulder barged around Piccadilly Gardens.
Giving my lips a break and prepping for summer corals, I’ve already got eos Shimmer Sphere in Sheer Pink waiting on the side-lines. Formulated with natural conditioning oils and moulded in an innovative sphere, it follows me from makeup bag to handbag for frequent top ups. Delivering a subtle hint of colour and long-lasting moisture, it’s my go to for any casual spring day.
Hoping for that fresh, airbrushed finish, I invested in Sigma Beauty’s kabuki brushes so I could stipple my life away. With flat surfaces and the sharpest of angles, each of their brushes offer unparalleled precision around places like my eyes, nose and cheekbones whilst creating a natural, delicate finish across my forehead and cheeks.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for like ever, you’ll know all about Mario Badescu’s Facial Sprays. I love them all in equal measures but I always go back to this Aloe Herbs and Rosewater classic – honestly, it’s great all year round but there’s nothing like that superfine refreshing mist on a sunny(ish) spring day. If you don’t believe me just start typing it into Google and you’ll be flooded with celeb recommendations and MUA’s top tips for combating tight, dehydrated skin.
Hands down my favourite thing about spring-face is the light BB cream-like coverage and dewy finish. My new favourite for this is The Ordinary’s Serum Foundation, with an utterly weightless feel this semi-matte formula combats my oily patches without drying the rest of me up. The best thing about it however is that it’s available in a whopping 21 shades so there really is one for every single one of you.
The perfect balance between ‘it’s kind of cold but I can also see some sun’, Zoeva’s Coral Spectrum Blush Palette is THE palette of the season. With four pink toned shades and one compact case, it’s a dream for bank holiday weekends away when it transforms me from day to night.
Turning me into a pure pearl, RCMA’s Over-Powder in…Pure Pearl is an absolute delight. Doubling up to set my makeup AND leave me shimmering, it sits wonderfully on my skin without leaving that cakey in my cracks kind of look.
