The Ordinary is one of those brands that seems overwhelming on first glance – here at BEAUTY BAY we carry all 100+ of the brand’s products (30 of which are serums!), which can make finding the best products a bit of a mission. You’ll no doubt have heard of bestsellers like the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (amazing for clearing acne scars), and Squalane Cleanser (a true skincare staple), but here are six lesser-known The Ordinary products worth investing in.
The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics
You probably know and love The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid + B5 – a gel-textured hydrating serum which draws moisture into the skin, helping to immediately improve hydration levels. Those who prefer lighter, thinner, and faster-absorbed formulas will love Marine Hyaluronics, which functions in the same way but as a different texture and feel (perfect for layering beneath makeup without pilling).
The Ordinary Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Everyone knows that face oils are perfect dry skin, but many go above and beyond and deliver even more benefits. Rosehip is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fatty acids, and is known for its benefits for treating scarring and hyperpigmentation.
The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane
The Ordinary has a grand total of six retinoids, which can make it quite hard to know where to start. One of the main differences is the textures of the different formulas – three are serums and three see retinol delivered via squalane, an oil-like substance. The benefit? Squalane is super nourishing and will help to combat the dryness and irritation that can come hand-in-hand with retinol use.
The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA
Even though powerful acids like glycolic and lactic can work quickly and effectively, they’re not always suitable for sensitive skin, or for those new to using chemical exfoliants. Enter mandelic acid. The gentlest of the AHAs is still super effective when it comes to treating skin tone and texture but is much less likely to trigger irritation, redness, and sensitivity.
The Ordinary Agirilene Solution 10%
Dubbed ‘Botox in a bottle’ by the TikTok skincare community, agireline is a peptide which works by preventing muscle movement and stimulating collagen production. Reduced skin movement results in fewer wrinkles, and collagen is responsible for keeping skin firm and plump, so if you’re keen to target fine lines and wrinkles, this is the serum for you.
The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
We’ve all heard of retinol and vitamin C, but have you ever heard of resveratrol? The little known (but incredibly powerful) antioxidant is derived from grape skins and is particularly effective when it comes to reducing damage from UV exposure and other environmental stressors.
