BEAUTY BAY Staff’s Night Time Skin Routines

More often than not, working at BEAUTY BAY means that you try out and buy new products to add to your routine all the time, so we tend to have our night-time routines down to a tee. Gone are the days where a quick cleanse and moisturise will suffice, so I’ve asked BEAUTY BAY staff to give me the low-down on their routines. Whether you mask every night or you’re looking for quick-yet-effective routines, browse through to get some inspo to take your night-time skincare ritual up a level.

Grace, Beauty Editor

“My night-time routine starts the moment I get home from work because the first thing I do (after shoving my hair up in a scrunchie and changing into sweatpants) is take my makeup off. Over the course of the evening I’ll apply various toners, serums, mists, and creams to my skin (and, if I have time, masks). But the final steps, which I do right before I get into bed involve Mario Badescu Lip Balm and Mount Lai Rose Quartz Eye Massager. I also always apply lip balm since I’m really bad at remembering to apply it during the day. I make up for it at night-time by applying a really thick layer like a mask, and wake up to lips that feel plump and nourished. This Mario Badescu one is my favourite because it’s so light and creamy. Finally, as I try to upkeep my commitment to reading a few pages of my book every night, I massage my face with the Mount Lai Rose Quartz Eye Massager. It’s soothing and relaxing, and also helps to improve the absorption of all the products I’ve applied to my skin. Plus, if I remember to the proper technique, it helps with lymphatic drainage which prevents me from waking up with any puffiness. Now that’s what you call beauty sleep.”

“For a while I’ve been really trying to swot up on my skincare, but I have a habit of falling into the trap of going back to a bit of cleanser and some moisturiser. However, in the last month (after a long succession of breakouts and dullness) I’ve pledged to do better. After cleansing, a couple of nights a week I’ll use Freck Cactus Water which has become a staple in my routine, not just because the glass bottle looks great on my shelf, but because it goes a long way and is super gentle for a toner. Next I’ll reach for The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics, as my skin has a tendency to get pretty oily mid-afternoon, which I’m told is because my skin is dehydrated, and hyaluronic acid is the answer. This is followed by the NIOD Non-Acid Acid Precursor and my trusty Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre Nourishing Moisturiser. Anddddd sleep.”

“So, my skincare routine differs depending on my concerns (or even my mood) that day. I’d say my standout routine would be to cleanse my face with an oil-based cleanser (obv) – watching everything melt off is actually mesmerizing. Most nights I follow this with The Ordinary Retinoid 2% Squalane, as I can’t live without retinol, it’s definitely bae. Next, I cover my face with the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. This is one of the most hydrating moisturisers I’ve ever used, the truth is in the name for sure! If my skin is feeling a little rough some days and there’s quite a bit of texture, I will use The Ordinary Niacinamide until my skin is smooth AF again. Then sometimes if I’m feelin’ really boujee and my skin needs a little extra TLC, I’ll slap my face in By BEAUTY BAY 2% BHA Overnight Mask with Salicylic Acid and Azelaic Acid and go to bed. Honestly, your skin the next day is UNREAL… it’s literally brand new, glowing and soooo smooth. I’m going to treat myself and use that tonight actually!”

“I’ve got really dry, breakout prone skin and most of my breakouts tend to be hormonal, so it’s really important to have a moisturising routine at night to help heal my skin. The best thing for removing makeup is the By BEAUTY BAY Butter Cup Cleansing Balm with Oat Lipid and Chamomile – it just melts all my makeup off in seconds. I’ll then go in with the By BEAUTY BAY SkinHit Balancing Serum with Prebiotic and Postbiotic and the UpCircle Beauty Organic Facial Serum with Coffee Oil to help achieve even texture and calm my skin. I finish off with the CeraVe Moisturising Cream, which is a rich, luxurious cream that sinks into the skin in seconds. If I’m having any major breakouts (which is basically all the time), I’ll dab on some Mario Badescu Drying Lotion for a quick fix.”

“I like to keep my night time routine as simple as possible, so when I wake up from falling asleep on the sofa (yet again), I can quickly prep my skin for bed. I like to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution once a week to really exfoliate and reset my skin, followed by the Revolution Skincare Targeted Blemish Serum 2% Salicylic Acid to keep any breakouts at bay (this product is literally my saviour). To keep my skin hydrated and plump I apply some of Niod’s Multi Molecular Hyaluronic Complex and Revolution Skincare’s CBD Oil to combat any redness or scarring. Lastly, to wake up with nourished skin I apply a thin layer of my trusted The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA and I’m ready to catch some zzz.”
