The latest brow trend is a treatment that involves giving brows new shape by setting the hairs in place – think of it as a perm for your eyebrows. The result can be tailored to suit your vision – if you want thick, fluffy brows it’s perfect, and likewise if you have wild, unruly brows, you can have them set into a more defined shape. If you want to correct your shape, lift your brow hairs, and cut down on your daily brow maintenance routine, then brow lamination is the treatment for you.
Scroll down for all the details.
What does the process involve?
1. Firstly, brows are cleansed and brushed out. Your brow technician will then wax or pluck any stray hairs to tidy up the shape.
2. Next, a chemical solution is applied which relaxes the bonds in hair and straightens them out. Brows are flattened under cling film and the solution is left to work its magic for around 20 minutes.
3. Now that brow hairs are easier to manipulate, they’re brushed into position and a setting lotion is applied.
4. Once the setting lotion is removed, brows are tinted – this helps to increase the appearance of extra fullness and definition.
Does it hurt?
No. Unlike microblading, which can be painful since it applies to the skin and not the hair, lamination doesn’t cause any pain.
What’s the maintenance like?
After the treatment it’s super important to keep your brows dry for at least 24 hours after (which is actually harder than you’d think). Once the 24 hours downtime is up however, there’s absolutely no maintenance required other than that your brows will likely need a quick brush through with a spoolie every morning. Thanks to the tint, you won’t need to fill in your brows for a few weeks, but you could use some brow gel or Soap Brows to add definition and keep them in shape.
How long does it last?
Depending on your hairs, the results can last for up to eight weeks

“Brow lamination is the beauty treatment I never knew I needed. I have thick brows and for the majority of my adult life it’s taken a small army of products to tame them into an acceptable shape every morning – with 3pm touch-ups essential. But now that I’ve had them laminated, I feel like I’ve reached a whole new level of brow finesse, and there’s no going back. I can now achieve my dream brows in just a few flicks of the spoolie (and if it’s loaded up with Soap Brows they stay in place all day). It’s official, I’m converted.”

“My ideal brow look is big and bushy, but unfortunately for me, my brows are very stubborn. No matter how much soap I comb through them, I just can’t get them to stay brushed up. So when the opportunity came up to try brow lamination, I was first in the queue. I’d kept seeing brow lamination transformations all over Instagram and loved the natural, fluffy-yet-defined before and afters. I wasn’t too sure what the process would entail, but I was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing and pain-free it was! I sort of knew what kind of results to expect, but when I looked in the mirror I could barely believe that my brows were in fact, my brows. Now, all I need to do is brush through with clear brow gel to keep them in place and use a couple of strokes of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in one or two sparser areas (now the tint has faded) and I’m out the door. I’m never going to go back to my bad brow days.”

“My eyebrows have always been pretty full and fluffy (I’m really lucky in the fact that I never overplucked my brows when I was younger), but as they’re blonde you couldn’t really see how fluffy they were. I used to dye them myself then set with the ABH tinted brow gel but I felt I was never achieving my ultimate brow goal of bushy, Cara Delevingne eyebrows. As soon as I heard about brow lamination and saw the before and after pics I was sold. Now I wake up in the morning, brush my brows up and they stay in place all day. As the treatment lasts for two months, I will probably start putting Soap Brows in after six weeks when it starts to wear off a bit. I will definitely be a returning customer for lamination, it’s made my routine so much easier and my brows look the best they’ve ever looked. The other day Lizzo’s MUA, Alexx Mayo, came into work and he said he loved my eyebrows so my life is pretty much made tbh.”

“Since I can remember I’ve suffered from incredibly sparse, almost invisible brows (probably due to continuous overplucking during my teenage years, thanks a bunch past me) so the process of brow lamination sounded like an absolute dream. Full, fluffy brows? Yes please! As someone with no past experience in brow treatments, I felt slightly on edge about letting someone near, let alone touch, my eyebrows however, the treatment was so quick and relaxing I was pleasantly surprised. The lady talked me through each step of the process and the results were incredible. I never knew my brows could be so fluffy! My morning make up routine has now been cut in half thanks to the treatment, all I need is a few strokes of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel and I’m good to go.”

“I had kinda given up on my brows after trying to grow them for years. Not many people would say ‘I just want a monobrow to work with!’, but I have always wanted the ‘bushy brow’ look, even before the trend was a thing (which made me want them even more)! After being told that my brows would probably grow no more, I had just make do with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel – which did work wonders but was by no means a solution. I have to say, I was pretty sceptical with brow lamination given that I don’t have that much hair to work with. But when you hear ‘girl, your brows are looking hairy’ mid-way through the process… all I was thinking was ‘hand me that mirror’! They might not be the Emma Louise Connolly standard but even to have a glimpse of hers, I’m over the moon to have hairier looking brows. Also, with me being lazy when it comes to spending time on my makeup, there’s actually not much more I need to do to tame them down. I still use the Dipbrow Gel, but only to tint. I will be 100% booking in again, because I love the results!”

“My natural brow hairs are quite coarse, so it’s hard to brush them up into a fluffy brow and it took me a while to get them in the right place in the morning, plus there were only a few brow gels that would hold the shape all day. I wanted to be able to brush them up more easily and get some volume. I’d seen before and afters of brow lamination and thought it looked amazing how the hairs just came from nowhere. The process was super quick – I was shook! It only takes a few minutes to do the main part of the treatment which is to break down the bonds in the hair and then perm them straight. It was pretty cool to see the hairs seem to double in length. Then after that it’s just the tinting which is pretty quick! They are so long, fluffy and easy to style. I am OBSESSED. I’ve been using the new Uoma Brow-Fro Volumising Gel which I really like! It has little fibres in the gel so you can really build up the colour.”
